 Pride centers itself around liberating expressions of romantic love, but in truth, sources of love come from everywhere. With the kinds of love ranging from philia— love from friendship— to philautia— love for self, one thing remains consistent: love can only exist when all individuals involved feel energized, enriched and empowered by it. Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, the Master Perfumer at Louis Vuitton, understands the impact that comes from receiving love, and sees the sun as the ultimate giver. In collaboration with creative director Pharrell Williams, the two created LVERS, an Eau de parfum encapsulating a connection to the sun as a source of love.

In anticipation of Pharrell’s first fragrance with Louis Vuitton releasing on Wednesday, June 19, we visit Mexico with LVERS and the sun, mediating on where we feel it overlays with definitions and effects of love.
